Through the collaborative efforts of students, faculty, departments, programs, and staff, Climate HQ's Annual Earth Week celebrations are designed to help raise climate justice literacy, increase knowledge of climate change causes, impacts, and solutions, connect with regional organizations and activists engaged in climate justice work and showcase the groundbreaking research and creative work being done by SF State students and faculty to address critical climate-related issues.
Most importantly, Earth Week is an opportunity for community building and engagement between students, faculty, and community members, and creates spaces for attendees to see themselves engaged in the collective climate justice movement.
One key event during Earth Week that reflects our mission to engage and connect is the Annual Climate HQ Film Festival where selected student, alumni, and faculty environmentally-themed media are screened alongside a climate-justice-based feature film or series, followed by a panel discussion with the filmmakers.
