Happy Earth Day! Join Climate HQ, the Environmental Resource Center (ERC) and our many environmental and climate justice campus partners as we launch our 2nd Annual Earth Week Celebrations. There will be live musical performances, student org tabling, presentations, a clothing swap, games, and more!
Guided Planetarium Shows: Earth, Climate Change & The Cosmos

Did you know SF State has its own Planetarium? Join us for a tour of the night sky and learn how human activity has influenced our ability to observe the stars. We'll also talk about Earth's uniqueness in the cosmos and the importance of protecting our home planet.

Panel: Asserting Indigenous Sovereignty: Defending Indigenous Land Rights

Join us for a dynamic panel of Indigenous land stewards and land defenders working to protect, preserve and restore their ancestral and native homelands, foodways and lifeways. While working to defend and protect their lands and peoples from abuse, they also stand in solidarity with Indigenous Rights and Land Defenders everywhere. This panel features Gregg Castro from the Ramaytush Cultural Association; Miskitu land defender Jose Coleman; Tongan poet, organizer and farmer, Loa Nuimeitolu; and Professor of Indigenous Sustainability, Melissa K. Nelson.

Join Climate HQ in Malcolm X Plaza on Thursday, April 25th, 2024 for an afternoon celebrating the interconnections between art and activism. SF-based organization The Poster Syndicate will be onsite screen-printing original artwork designed just for this event, and free screen-printed posters will be available for students to take home! Other activities include live music, performances, and a specially curated art exhibit designed by DES 628: Gallery Exhibition (JD Beltran, School of Design) featuring sustainable materials designs, a sustainable fashion display, comic books/panels about climate change by CMX 675: Nonfiction Comics (Nick Sousanis, Liberal Studies & Comic Studies Certificate/Minor), and more!
Climate HQ's Second Annual Earth Week Film Fest

This year’s FilmFest will feature the award-winning documentary “Water Warriors” by filmmaker and activist Micheal Premo, which tells the story of indigenous and non-indigenous community members in New Brunswick who join together to resist against the oil and gas industry that threatens their water and ways of life. NorCal Public Media, this year’s official Climate HQ Earth Week FilmFest media sponsor, will share a sneak preview of their forthcoming PBS series, “Climate California.” The event will also include a panel discussion and audience Q&A with our student filmmakers, Michael Premo, “Climate California” series producer, Charles Loi, NorCal’s CEO and Executive Producer, Darren LaShelle, and will be moderated by Bay Area filmmaker and founder of the online documentary platform Docuvist, Chloë Fitzmaurice.

Climate HQ is looking for the writers, poets, and artists of SFSU to showcase their work during this year’s Earth Week. If you would like to submit any environmental artwork and/or literature to be showcased during Earth Week, please fill out the form below!
The ERC Flea Market is an event held by the Environmental Resource Center to support small businesses by current students! The event will be held on Wednesday, April 24th, 2024. This event will be located inside the Cesar Chavez Building (Jack Adams Hall)
Examples of items students have sold in the past are jewelry, candles, ceramics, and crochet items.
Climate HQ is calling all SFSU students to submit their environmental and climate justice themed video and film projects to the 2nd Annual Earth Week FilmFest, which will be held on April 25th from 3:30-7pm. Selected work will be screened along with the documentary "Water Warriors" by filmmaker and activist, Michael Premo, and a sneak peak of the upcoming NorCal Public Media series, "Climate California."
