Submit your Film to Earth Week

film fest

Calling ALL Student Film and Media Makers!

Climate HQ’s 3rd Annual Earth Week FilmFest wants to screen your creative work. We are looking for film and video that addresses climate, environment, and justice-related issues that are important to you!

  • This call is open to all SFSU students from any department at any stage in their education, from freshmen to EdD to students in certificate programs. Any SFSU student who has produced visual media that addresses these topics is free to submit, and all work will be considered!

  • Selected student work will be screened alongside feature films Basandja (2025) and POWERLANDS (2022) over two days of the festival. The directors and producers Basandja and POWERLANDS will also be in attendance.

  • Submissions can be projects you have done for a class or work you’ve produced outside of class.

  • There is no  limit to how many projects you can submit, and projects of any length will be considered.

  • Work in progress? No problem. Just please read the submission form closely to confirm you will have it completed by the deadline if it is selected.

  • If you have an audio project that fits this call and are willing to provide visuals (slides, pictures, etc.) to accompany it, please do submit and just note this in your project description.

  • We invite faculty members to submit, too! If you are currently working with or have previously worked with students with projects that highlight these issues, please forward this call and please feel free to share with your classes.

  • All submissions are due by Sunday, April 6 at midnight!

This unique Film Festival is designed to provide SFSU students with meaningful opportunities to build deeper community connections through art and storytelling. Students screen their creative climate, environment, and justice-related creative work alongside professionals in filmmaking, video production, and multimedia arts and have opportunities to connect, network, and engage with professionals in the field.
