Certificate Steering Committee

The Climate Change Certificate is interdisciplinary, which includes faculty, courses, and collaborations across five Colleges at SF State. The certificate is governed through a campus-wide Steering Committee that isn’t held within a particular academic unit, but is representative of the wider university.

The Climate Change Certificate Steering Committee provides oversight of practical issues including program size, student recruitment, certificate advising, faculty and course recruitment into the Certificate, design and evaluation of curriculum, curricular revisions, developing and carrying out program assessment, and other academic and administrative issues.

The Steering Committee reflects interdisciplinary points of view. As climate change undoubtedly has the largest impact on communities of color, it is important that the committee as a whole reflect multiple dimensions of diversity.

The Steering Committee consists of 7 to 14 voting members, and includes up to 4 students, and 5 to 10 lecturer or tenured/tenure-trackT/TT faculty. Each academic college that houses a course in the certificate can have up to 2 faculty representatives on the Committee.

The Steering Committee bylaws can be found here.
